Our take

Netflix is the poster child for streaming, but their library for Australian subscribers – beyond the Netflix Original Series offering – has been criticised. We are witnessing a change in the broadcast model. “Traditional” broadcasters are bedding down with new partners to give competitive offerings. 9 has partnered with Fairfax to create Stan and are leading their marketing charge with the promise of exclusive Content. Presto is born out out of a partnership with 7 & Foxtel and effectively built on Foxtel’s exclusive relationship with HBO. But Foxtel’s buy into 10 will cause the sands to shift again.
We are watching this space with great interest as not all can survive in their current form. For the moment though, Netflix’s cards are coming up trumps.
