IMPORTANCE OF THE ROLE:

The Media Executive position covers a broad range of tasks including development of innovative media strategies, through to the implementation in order to address client briefs and increase The Media Store’s profile within the marketplace. This role is a hybrid media role, for offline and online channels, however a solid working understanding of performance media is a must.

KEY ROLE OF THE MEDIA EXECUTIVE:

  • Maintains effective relationships with clients and ensuring in-depth knowledge of their business and its needs
  • Provides support to the Comms Planning team in the development of media concepts, plans and implementation of buys
  • Identifies and delivers unique and innovative strategies to leverage brand strength
  • Researches past online campaigns and results, competitive actions, consumer behaviour and changes to the marketplace
  • Understands and interprets research, market data and systems
  • Searches for new, innovative and relevant communications ideas and presenting these to clients
  • Sources global insights/ideas for communications options
  • Presents ideas to clients (or assists in)
  • Generates appropriate reporting (competitive, performance tracking, budget reporting, contract management, marketplace trends)

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Sydney Digital Manager as the act as the TMS key point of contact for the Australian Institute of Business’  performance media & help bring their brand vision to life across Paid Media, both online & offline – and when appropriate owned & earned channels – in line with consumer insights & business objectives.
  • Support the Business Director and the Business Manager across all aspects of business between The Media Store & AIB (and other new clients as they come into to TMS) by collaboratively working with cross-functional agency resources through agreed RASCI process to deliver against client KPIs.
  • Responsible – through agreed RASCI process – for investment, execution & measurement across performance and offline media – and when appropriate owned & earned channels – for AIB – in collaboration with the Digital & Business Managers, AIB business team and other cross-functional team members (Digital, Partnership & Integration, Investment, Research & Insights, Strategy etc).
  • When there is a requirement to handle overflow work from other accounts handled through our Sydney office, you will be required to support clients strategy, investment, execution & measurement across media, digital, social, sponsorship and other paid channels – and when appropriate owned & earned channels.
  • Champion creative & meaningful client partnership opportunities to deliver ROI in line with client brand and performance communications strategies.
  • Support day-to-day media negotiations, with Investment team, and support major group media negotiations led by Business Director, Investment team & Group Heads/Directors.
  • Where required, be responsible for media investment and implementation under the supervision of Business Director, Investment Team and Business & Digital Managers.
  • Responsible for media schedule management including creation and maintenance of executable media plans, under the supervision of the Business Director.
  • Take responsibility to ensure that correct material appears through supervision of material instruction and proof of appearance processes.
  • Responsible for campaign measurement & reporting and support on-going optimisation strategies implemented, under the supervision of the Business Director, in consultation with the Digital Manager.
  • Day-to-day management of ongoing, long term media investments including allocation to product, management of key deadlines & specifications and on-going communication to all internal & external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring that campaign media budgets are adhered to and correctly reconciled with Group Head / Finance, including proforma invoice checking against planned/forecast.
  • Develop & maintain media partner relationships (from Account Co-ordinator / Account Manager and above).
  • Develop & evolve deep relationships with key client contacts and support Digital and Business Managers in and managing client expectations on workflow delivery through effective, transparent, clear communication.
  • Support Research & Insights and Head of Strategy, for creation & presentation of competitive and media landscape reviews to key client contacts.
  • Collaborate with client agency partners (advertising / creative, digital, promotion, event, direct marketing, CRM, social, PR etc) to ensure holistic campaign delivery & seamless execution, that delivery against client objectives.
  • Responsible for analysis and responding to client and/or media on all relevant proposals & requests.
  • Contribute to overall agency culture & growth by actively supporting new business initiatives and merchandising TMS, participating & leading internal training and workshops, representing TMS at external Industry & Media, demonstrating thought leadership & initiating and leading agency social activities.

 

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrates an interest in and appetite for digital media, yet comfortable in the offline media world too
  • Has experience in Google Adwords and Facebook Business Manager
  • Has an understanding of SEM KPIs such as conversions, CPA etc.
  • Has an ability to tell stories from data i.e. go beyond the numbers, be curious
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and attention to detail
  • Able to demonstrate independent thinking and self-motivation
  • Ability to take projects from inception to completion, with guidance from direct reports
  • Communicates effectively to manage expectations and elevate challenges to ensure they are dealt with quickly
  • Follows process but also be able to suggest improvements to the existing process
  • Demonstrates initiative to help the broader team
  • Demonstrates a willingness to be more client-facing, including developing social and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates proficient implementation and reporting skills
