Australian advertising market to grow 3.5% in 2016!

Our take

We have an optimistic outlook for the Australian market in 2016; Strong signals of improved government and consumer confidence, record automotive sales, improving retail data and events such as the census, Federal election and Olympics, should lead to growth in marketing budgets.

Bellwether categories; automotive, finance and retail will continue to show strength, and we expect increased federal government spending for the census, IR and Tax reform measures.

Television, will be well supported across Q2/3 by the aforementioned events and we predict a full year increase of c. 1%.

Online growth will continue unabated at +15%, with mobile and video fuelling this growth. Outdoor should continue at +10% through ongoing digital rollout, and it’s complementary nature to screen campaigns.
