Former member of the elite South Australian Police STAR Division, Derrick McManus, recently came to The Media Store to talk about his own experiences, including being shot 14 times with a high powered weapon and laying for 3 hours bleeding waiting to be rescued by his fellow officers as they engaged in a shoot out with the offender.
Derrick spoke about the lessons he has learned from this experience and what being a part of such a unit taught him in regards to leadership, commitment, clear thinking and teamwork.
It was a moving and fascinating opportunity to listen to someone who had a life changing experience and made the most of it.
