Samsung overtaking the rest

Being stuck behind a semi-trailer on a narrow single lane road can be annoying at the best of times. Overtaking in these conditions is dangerous and quite often results in deadly consequences. Samsung have come up with a possible solution, “transparent trucks”. The technology connects a camera on the front of the truck to four exterior monitors on the rear of the truck, so the cars behind are able to see what the truck can see.

Our take

This technology is fantastic and is great initiative by Samsung to utilise the power of tech to make our roads safer. This has the real potential to save lives, and should make people more aware, but with tests still ongoing it remains to be seen if there’s not the added risk of being a distraction to drivers. Will it encourage drivers to tail gate trucks for a better view? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
