IMPORTANCE OF THE ROLE:

A Business Director has more than 6 years industry experience as an accomplished media planner buyer and is ready for senior management. They are the critical business lead for the client and must work at developing strategies that deliver to the clients’ expectations, whilst developing strong media partner relationships and managing a high performing team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commitment to building strong, trusting relationships with the client and ensuring in-depth knowledge of their business and its needs
  • A strong strategic thinker who can analyse consumer insights and business goals, develop a communications strategy and oversee implementation across all brands, working in collaboration with Research & Insights, Digital, Investment and Partnership & Integration teams
  • Stewardship of all clients’ communications planning, buying of media, campaign optimization, post reporting, competitive insights and business analysis
  • Develops channel strategies that deliver on business objectives and demonstrates thought-leadership and innovative go-to-market strategies
  • Sets measures of success and objectives in line with channel strategy and clients business objectives
  • Sets specific planning goals via detailed briefs for Digital and Investment teams
  • Development of briefs and then briefing media partners
  • Project manages key media activations and develops and maintains strong media relationships
  • Collaborates with Investment team to effectively negotiate and optimise campaigns
  • Manages workflow within and across teams to manage stakeholder expectations
  • Incorporate learnings, tests and innovates within media strategies
  • Benchmarks group’s day-to-day media negotiations
  • Construct annual budget in line with over-arching media strategy and ensures all media budgets are adhered to and correctly reconciled with Finance monthly
  • Ability to manage and nurture the team to ensure high performance, career growth and to exceed client expectations
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider merchandising of TMS such as Takeaway, The Wrap and MFA
  • Working with Groups Heads and TMS Senior Management to drive new business growth

 

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of all available data sources within the agency and be able to tell stories from the data to respond to client briefs and business needs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and media proprietary tools
  • Demonstrate proficient implementation and reporting skills
  • Be comfortable working with people of all levels and maintain high levels of professionalism
  • Ensure open lines of communication and deep trust is built with client and team so high performance can be achieved
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, being a good listener and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate good time management skills; identify and set priorities based upon the urgent/important matrix, plan and schedule a realistic To Do list, know when to delegate and when to collaborate, how to manage interruptions and avoid procrastination
  • Able to demonstrate independent thinking and self-motivation, yet be an invaluable team player
  • Demonstrate confidence as a presenter; be articulate and engaging in communicating with team, media owners and clients
  • Communicate effectively to manage expectations, own errors and have an analytical yet creative approach to solving problems, in a timely fashion
  • Follow process but also be able to suggest improvements to the existing process
  • Solid administration skills regarding invoicing, media bookings and client communications
  • Commitment to managing the direct-report team; from workflow best practice, workload distribution, professional development, nurturing relationships and identifying their people styles, creating a culture of accountability and building strong levels of trust, healthy conflict and strong commitment to shared goals.
  • As the manager of the team you will be responsible for providing direction, protecting them and providing advocacy, controlling conflict, maintaining norms and clarify responsibilities.
  • Build strong internal relationships across the agency and look for ways to contribute to The Media Store health and growth
